Colorimetric Measurements in Accordance to ISO 12647
CIE LAB mode is used to take colorimetric measurements in accordance to ISO 12647 standard values, and shows the ∆ E value describing the color difference between two colors.
How it works: Lab values describe a color by lightness, hue and chroma based on the Lab color space model. Operator measures color target to obtain a Reference L*a*b* value, and then measures a corresponding value color target Sample L*a*b* value. With Delta Mode turned on, the D E*a*b* between the Reference and Sample color is displayed, a small Δ E (1 or less) difference being virtually invisible, and a high Δ E (6 or more) as clearly visible. (The acceptable value for CMYK colors in accordance to the ISO standard is a Δ E of < 5).
CIE LAB User Benefits:
-Clearly indicates the color difference between two colors, along with whether it’s in conformance to the ISO standard
