AUTOMATIC DENSITY measures solid ink densities, % dot patches, and gray balance.

How it works: In consecutive measurements, this function identifies the measured process color and displays each respective solid ink density (identified by a "C," "Y," "M" or "Y" symbol).

Automatic Density also measures non-solid, dot percent patches for Dot Gain. The Gray Balance feature in Automatic Density displays density values for all four process colors in a single bar graph.
